Slow Cooker Lasagna

A series of three images: (1) Cooking the meat sauce in a skillet, (2) Layering the lasagna in the slow cooker, (3) The finished lasagna in the slow cooker, with melted cheese and garnished with fresh herbs


METHOD :



1️⃣ Cook the Meat:

In a large skillet, cook the ground beef (or sausage) over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.

Add the onion and garlic, and sauté for 2-3 minutes, until softened. Stir in the marinara sauce, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.

2️⃣ Layer the Lasagna:

Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of the slow cooker. Top with 3 lasagna noodles (break them to fit if needed).

Spread ⅓ of the ricotta cheese over the noodles, followed by ⅓ of the meat sauce, and ⅓ of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers twice, ending with mozzarella cheese on top. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.

3️⃣ Cook:

Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or on high for 2-3 hours, until the noodles are tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

4️⃣ Serve & Enjoy:

Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and enjoy this hearty, comforting meal!
