Italian Easter Cookies

1) Hands twisting dough into knots, 2) Brushing glaze on cookies, 3) Adding sprinkles with a spoon.


METHOD :


1️⃣ Make Dough:

Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light. Beat in eggs one at a time, then milk, vanilla, and zest. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.


2️⃣ Shape Cookies:

Roll dough into 1" thick ropes. For knots: twist into figure-8 shapes. For nests: coil into circles, pinching sides to form a well.


3️⃣ Bake:

Arrange on parchment-lined baking sheets. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 12-15 minutes until bottoms are golden. Cool completely.


4️⃣ Glaze & Decorate:

Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Divide and tint with food coloring if desired. Dip cookies in glaze, then add sprinkles or place mini eggs in nests.


5️⃣ Dry & Serve:

Let glaze set 1 hour before serving.


Pro Tip: Dough can be chilled 30 minutes if too sticky to handle!
