Patty Melts with Secret Sauce

Ingredients for Patty Melts including beef, rye bread, and cheese.



METHOD :


1️⃣ Caramelize the Onions:

Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium-low heat. Add onions and cook slowly, stirring occasionally, for 20-25 minutes until golden and sweet. Add a pinch of sugar to speed up caramelization if desired.


2️⃣ Make the Secret Sauce:

Mix mayonnaise, ketchup, relish, mustard, and smoked paprika in a small bowl. Set aside.


3️⃣ Form & Cook the Patties:

Combine ground beef, Worcestershire, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Shape into 4 thin oval patties. Cook in a skillet over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes per side.


4️⃣ Assemble & Grill:

Butter one side of each bread slice. On unbuttered sides, layer: secret sauce, beef patty, Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, and another slice of bread (buttered side out). Grill in a skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes per side until golden and cheese melts.


5️⃣ Serve & Enjoy:

Slice in half and serve hot with extra sauce for dipping!


Pro Tip: For extra crispiness, press lightly with a spatula while grilling.
