METHOD :
Activate the Yeast:
In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, or until frothy.Make the Dough:
In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, eggs, softened butter, vanilla extract, and zest (if using). Mix until a dough forms.Knead the Dough:
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.Shape the Bread:
Punch down the dough and divide it into 2 equal portions. Roll each portion into a long rope and twist them together to form a braid. Shape into a ring and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.Add the Eggs:
Gently press dyed eggs into the braided dough, spacing them evenly. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.Preheat & Bake:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush the dough with egg wash (1 egg + 1 tbsp milk) and sprinkle with pearl sugar or sprinkles if desired. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.Cool & Serve:
Let the bread cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!
